Leadership KAHSA Fellows

 

 

Matthew Bogner is the Administrator at the Kansas Masonic Home in Wichita, Kansas.  He has worked there since December 2008.    He is interested in learning more about leading his team through change.

"This fellowship has caused me to grow much more quickly and comprehensively as a leader.  The relationships we have formed will no doubt prove to be invaluable as we continue our work in long-term care."

  Melissa Sica is the Director of Membership at the Kansas Association of Homes and Services for the Aging in Topeka, Kansas. Melissa has worked with KAHSA for over 5 year and is interested in honoring her skills as a leader for our members.
 

DeAnn Escalante is the Director of Lifestyle and Wellness at Brewster Place in Topeka, Kansas.  She has worked in aging services for nearly 10 years promoting healthy lifestyles and wellness.  She is excited about learning from others and bringing the information she gains back to her position at Brewster Place.

Sheila Brown is the Director of Lone Tree Retirement Center in Meade, Kansas. She has worked in aging services for nearly 33 years as a CNA and now Director.  She is interested in gaining knowlege about the bigger picture in aging services and has a desire to be a continual learner.

"Everyone is a leader.  There are universal principals applicable to leadership development."

  Jerrie Rieck is the CNA Mentor at Meadowlark Hills in Manhattan, Kansas. She has been in her position for nearly 20 years and is interested in learning to be a transformational leader.
  Bryan Pippett is the Administrator at the Good Samaritan Society of Olathe, Kansas.  He has worked with the Good Samaritan Society since 1992 and is interested in learning about aging services trends in Kansas and how to be a more effective leader.
 

Courtney Wolfe is the Director of Marketing at the Catholic Care Center in Bel Aire, Kansas. She has worked in aging services since 2002 and is interested in gaining knowledge and techniques to be a better leader throughout her career.

"The Leadership KAHSA program has made such an impact on not only my professional but personal life.  The program has given me the opportunity to network with fellow peers across the state as well as Leaders who are making a difference in aging services.  The program has enhanced my communication skills, empowered me to step out of the box and ignited my passion for caring for the senior population." 

 

Kimberle (Kim) Doty is the Administrator at Johnson County Nursing Center in Olathe, Kansas.  She has worked in aging services since 1992 in many different roles.  She brings a perspective of being a consultant from a large system.  She is interested in continuous learning honing her skills as a leader.

"Leadership KAHSA provides a wonderful opportunity to grow and develop as a leader in aging services."

 

Loretta McFee is the Director of Nursing at the Good Samaritan Society of Decatur County. She has been a very influential nurse in aging services since 1985.  She is interested in leading through the changes of our field.

"Taking time to reflet back on my personal growth as a leader and building relationships with others in the field of caring for the elders has helpd me to rekindle my passion and vision to encourage elders and co-workers to reach their highest potential in all aspects of their life."

 

Susan Phipps is the Administrator at Fowler Nursing Home in Fowler, Kansas.  She has worked in the field off and on since 1991.  She is interested in learning how to lead her team through all of the changes in aging services.

"Leadership KAHSA causes us think out of the box with creative thinking and recognize that leaders are always there in different positions we have never seen."

 

Sonja Reiser is the Vice President of Marketing and Housing for Wesley Towers in Hutchinson, Kansas.  She has worked at Wesley Towers since 1992.  Sonja is interested applying her knowledge from Leadership KAHSA and learning about the changes happening in the field.

"The Leadership KAHSA sessions give us an opportunity to learn how to be more effective leaders in long-term care in ways we may not have considered prior to the class."

 

Brenda Thornton is the Administrator at Prairie Mission Retirement Village in St. Paul, Kansas.  She has worked in the field since 1996 and is interested in developing as a leaders versus just being a manager.

"If we want our staff and organizations to keep learning and gowing, then we must make ourselves vulnerable while learning and growing.  No matter how long we've been in this business or how many times we hav heard something, we can find a nugget of knowledge to improve ourselves.  We must be transparent leaders willing to admit that we do not have all the answers.  This will open ourselves up to new possibilities and opportunities!"

 

Tracey Torola is the Director of Senior Housing and Marketing at Cedar Lake Village in Olathe, Kansas.  Tracey has worked in aging services off and on since 1976.  She started her career as a CNA.  She is interested in honing her skills as a leader and is interested in learning from others in the group.

"I would highly recommend this program to anyone who is a leader or wants to become a leader.  This program is not just for administrators or executive directors, it can benifit all who work in any kind of role in an aging services organization."
