ASTRA Receives’ Grant to recruit nursing homes for Health Support Specialist
KAHSA’s 501(c)(3) organization Aging Services Transformation Alliance (ASTRA) recently received a grant from North Central Kansas Technical College to help promote the Health Support Specialist program which is nationally recognized by the Department of Labor. The program is essentially a career ladder for non-licensed long-term care employees that results in becoming a universal worker. Students who complete the program receive 15 hours of college credit, the nationally recognized Health Support Specialist designation, and employer-sponsored raises commiserate with their accomplishments.
